GOLDEN OAK LAKE AND GITES

 

Golden Oak is a beautiful 5 acre lake set in the middle of tranquil farmland. It has everything you need for that total carp fishing experience.

This newly opened lake has never previously been available to the public, but with carp in the region of 35lbs in abundance is sure to make for very rewarding fishing.

 

Located in the North Dordogne, between Limoges and Perigueux. The nearest town is Thiviers.

 

 

 

 

 

The Total Carp Fishing Experience...

 

At Golden Oak Lake we aim to give you some of the very best carp fishing that France has to offer. We want you to have a completely hassle free stay so that you can concentrate on what you enjoy most.
 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Fish...

 

Golden Oak lake offers the challenge of some really large Carp. There are a number of fish in the 35lb region and stocks of even larger fish on their way.
 

The Lake...

 

Golden Oak Lake is beautiful unspoilt water. This secluded lake with its purpose built swims is limited to a maximum of 5 people fishing at any one time. This coupled with the fact that the lake has only recently been opened to the public gives you a chance to experience some of the most exclusive fishing.

 

 

 

 

 

Accommodation...

 

The gites are a traditional stone barn conversion, retaining many of the original features, but including the comfort you would expect from a high class conversion. Exposed stonework, oak beams, and a wood burning stove rub shoulders with soft, colourful rugs and tasteful funishings.

 

The gites are wheelchair friendly, all access is ramped, and have a double en-suite on the ground floor. There are two large bedrooms on the 1st floor, 1 double and one twin, both of which have en-suite facilities.


 

The kitchen is fully fitted, with all the usual equipment. There are laundry facilities available. The lounge and dining area have double doors leading onto the terrace, which overlook the lawn and lake, making it the perfect place for breakfast, or a glass of wine. Garden furniture is provided, we also have a plunge pool. Parking is conveniently situated at the side of the barn.

We will provide you with all major equipment. Fully inclusive, you will have the use of BIVVY'S, BEDCHAIRS, RODS, REELS, NETS and UNHOOKING MATS, plus many other extras. (see right for details)
 

Extras...

 

You will not go hungry ! breakfast will be delivered to your swim, egg and bacon baguettes, as well as lunch; there will be a choice, Pate, Ham, cheese etc. Along with a large flask of boiling water to make coffee and tea.

Dinner...

 

will be 3 courses of first class home cooked food. I am a seriously good cook, you will not lose weight ! Let us know if you require a special diet, gluten free, vegetarian etc. Weather permitting we will also have BBQ's.

Our restored French farmhouse is set in the Perigord Vert region of France and is situated halfway between Perigueux and Limoges just off the RN 21.

Bergerac airport is approximately 60 miles and Limoges 35 miles which makes us a perfect stop over for house hunters and holiday makers alike.

La Ferme D'Alba - A truely relaxing holiday !La Ferme D'Alba - for a truly relaxing holiday in the lovely Charente region of France - sleeping 8/9.

La Ferme D'Alba is a detached ex goat farm where top quality goats cheese was produced for the local restaurants. The farmhouse is some 200 years old and is full of character. It is in a delightful and peaceful position in Northern Charente bordering the Dordogne and Limousin between Limoges and La Rochefoucauld.

 

 

The floors are limestone or polished hardwood and the property has been tastefully decorated with quality period furniture to the highest standard. It is well positioned being set within it's own grounds of 2 acres with stunning views towards the Dordogne.

Being a great example of Charentaise architecture, the property is south facing with thick stone walls. The interior is warm and cozy during winter, yet remains beautifully cool during the hot summer months.

Evening by the PoolThe patio is a "picture" and is a real sun trap and offers total seclusion, it has a large outside table that seats 6/8 people and is perfect under the Mulberry tree which provides excellent shade.

There are 5 bikes for the use of guests, (use at own risk), large Barbecue also available as well as a 'chimnea' with good supply of wood to extend your evenings " al fresco".

There is also table tennis, badminton as well as a large paddling pool for children.

There is no television as the owners would like their guests to appreciate the tranquillity of a "TV free zone".

The adjacent Pool has a large terrace with ample loungers/furniture. Pool depth 1m to 2m.

St Martial De Vallete is a small village with two bread shops, bar with restaurant, Sports Centre and new this year a swimming pool. The town of Nontron is just 5 kms where there are many shops, bars and cafes. Market on a Saturday morning. Just a short drive from the town centre there are many Supermarkets and stores. From Nontron to the north is the Perigord Vert Limousin where there are many Lakes and forests.

 

The property is 5 km from the town of Nontron, TGV rail services are available from Angoluême and Limoges to Paris. FlyBe and Ryan Air offer direct flights to the Uk and Ireland from Limoges and Bergerac Airports. Further scheduled services are available from British Airways, Air France, BMI and Easyjet from Bordeaux Airport.

 

St Martial is on the south side of Nontron and just 15 mins by car takes you to Brantome, which is said to be a ‘little Venice’. Many restaurants and a Friday market which must not be missed.

 

From Brantome there is Bourdeilles with a beautiful Medieval Chateau and grounds. There is also an open air swimming pool.

 

From Brantome you can visit Perigueux which is a very old city with cobbled streets and beautiful shops and many restaurants. Market days are Wednesday and Saturday morning but there is an indoor market every day. Golf at Peigut – 9 Hole Golf course and Perigueux – 18 Hole course.

 

By road Nontron is easily accessible via Limoges to the A20 Autoroute and via Angoluême to the A10 A20 Autoroute both enabling speedy connections with the channel ports.

 

Activities nearby are Bird Watching, Canoeing, Golf, Gourmet dining, Gym, Rambling, Shopping, Sightseeing, Squash, Tennis
